Description

REU: OCEANUS is an interdisciplinary research program at Texas A&M University, Galveston that advances scientific understandings of coastal system sustainability. Funded by the National Science Foundation (Award#1950910), OCEANUS invites talented undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds to participate in a 10-week immersive experience. The program is 100% in-person and runs from May 31 to August 5, 2022. Student benefits include:

  • Enhanced scientific research and communication skills through high-impact learning and hands-on training
  • Increased social capital via the Aggie Network (http://www.aggienetwork.com)
  • Access to tools to help navigate the academic pipeline
  • $6,000 summer stipend, travel allowance, campus meal plan, and room and board

Applications are due by February 15, 2022. Applicants will be asked to submit a resume or curriculum vitae, unofficial academic transcript(s), contact information for two references, and personal and diversity statements.

Requirements

REU: OCEANUS is open to all STEM majors. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents. Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and are expected to graduate in December of 2022 or later are eligible to apply. Students from underrepresented groups, affiliated with the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, enrolled in minority-serving institutions, or attending colleges or universities with limited STEM research are especially encouraged to apply.
